Scientific diving in bugeaud

AgroParisTech students plunge into the heart of the Bois de Boulogne for a day on the Bugeaud site.

As part of the “Water” module, AgroParistech students swapped their classrooms for a field trip to the Bugeaud pilot site. The aim was to put their knowledge of hydrology and ecology into practice through a series of practical experiments.

On the programme for this busy day: water sampling on the filters installed on the site, as well as in the nearby river. These analyses will make it possible to compare the quality of the water before and after passing through the filter, and to identify the aquatic species present in the natural environment.

But that's not all! The students are also carrying out tests on the habitats of surrounding species, with a focus on counting oligochaetes, small worms that are indicators of the health of the site.

All the data collected will be analysed throughout April, with a final report scheduled for 6 May 2025. This is a great opportunity for the students to come face to face with the realities of the field, while contributing to a better understanding of environmental issues in general.
