Construction du filtre
Every rainfall in the city washes away a mix of pollutants: hydrocarbons, heavy metals, fine particles... All of which end up in the Seine. The LIFE ADSORB project proposes a nature-based solution: reed bed filters, capable of retaining and breaking down these pollutants through a combination of substrates, bacteria, and vegetation.
Installed in the Bois de Boulogne, the two experimental filters treat stormwater runoff from a 21-hectare section of the western ring road. One is a conventional design, the other includes an innovative adsorbent material. Together, they help researchers identify the best strategies to reduce urban micropollutants.
This new brochure presents:
How reed bed filters work
The essential role of bacteria and plants in water treatment
Promising scientific results from the pilot project
The environmental benefits for the city and the Seine River
