The Partners

The Life Adsorb project brings together the City of Paris and a multidisciplinary team made up of academic partners (ENPC, INRA, UPEC, AgroParisTech), operational partners (CEREMA) and the EcoBIRD consultancy compagny.

Partners Life Adsorb

LIFE-ADSORB brings together a local authority with academic partners and a private engineering compagny:

  • City of Paris, Cleanliness & Water Direction (DPE-STEA),

  • Research laboratories: Laboratoire Eau Environnement et Systèmes urbains (Leesu), part of the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées (ENPC) and part of the Université Paris Est Créteil (UPEC); Écologie fonctionnelle et écotoxicologie des agroécosystèmes (ECOSYS), part of INRA and AgroParisTech.

  • The Centre for Study and Expertise on Risks, the Environment, Mobility and Planning (CEREMA)

  • Ecological research and development engineering office : EcoBIRD.

By combining their respective expertise in hydraulic engineering, environmental chemistry and biology, sociology, sanitation techniques and water treatment, the partners have designed an innovative solution for cleaning up stormwater that is compatible with maintaining biodiversity, and that is adaptable and transferable.

City of Paris

The project is being coordinated by the City of Paris through its Department of Cleanliness and Water (DPE) and its Technical Department of Water and Sanitation (STEA).

Water, Environment and Urban Systems Laboratory (Leesu)

The Water, Environment and Urban Systems Laboratory (Leesu) is a joint research team of École des Ponts ParisTech and Université Paris-Est Créteil (Research Unit 200920634U).

Leesu's research focuses on urban water from a variety of angles:

  • Physical and hydrological studies (runoff, transfer in the urban system, lake environments),

  • Biogeochemical studies of the emissions, fate and effects of chemical and microbiological contaminants in the city/dams/receiving environments continuum,

  • Study of policies, uses of water, practices and their evolution.

Cerema

Cerema Ile-de-France is one of Cerema's 9 regional divisions.

A partner recognised for its expertise and potential for innovation, it supports local players in carrying out their projects in Cerema's 6 fields of action.

Cerema Ile-de-France has long been established in the heart of the Paris region, and benefits from a long-standing knowledge of local issues and contexts.

On the strength of this proximity, Cerema Île-de-France has developed an identity for its activities:

  • responding to a rationale of integrated or multidisciplinary, innovative and experimental approaches at the service of urban areas

  • asset management, as well as studies and engineering for the repair and rehabilitation of civil engineering structures

  • research and innovation in the fields of mobility, water and materials.

It has strong skills in :

  • urban planning

  • nature and water in cities

  • intelligent transport systems

  • infrastructure asset management and works rehabilitation

  • geotechnical engineering and natural hazards

It also has an eco-materials laboratory and an urban environment laboratory for water, soil and air.

UMR Ecosys, attached to INRAE and AgroParisTech

Ecosys - INRAE - AgroParisTech

  • Dynamic monitoring of the concentration of inorganic micro-pollutants in soils and other solid matrices, and characterisation of their fate and effect

  • Characterisation of the exposure of soil organisms to contaminants

  • Analysis of the ecotoxic effects of contaminants on biological models, in particular soil oligochaetes and microbial communities
